According to MarketWatch, June 23rd, 2024, "The S&P 500 SPX is on pace for its best first-half performance during an election year since 1976, as well as the second-best performance in an election year in its history, according to Dow Jones Market Data." We have certainly had an impressive first half of the year with the S&P 500 up 14.6% as I write this (June 24, 2024).
On Tuesday, July 8th at 12:00 noon, I will be hosting a general discussion on the election and how it may affect the economy and thus the stock market. The discussion will take place at the McIver's Grant Public Library in downtown Dyersburg. We will discuss the history of election cycles and the market as well as the candidates stance on economic policy and their track record.
